What is the better combo w/455 ,A 350 trans or 400 ? What is involved in swapping from the 350 to 400 ? Thanks

the 350 has a kick down cable where the 400 has an electric switch. IIRC the drive shaft would be different length. Don,t know about the cross-member.

Note/ The 400 is the racers choice. That being said the TH350 is no slouch. After being rebuilt, I tortured a TH350 behind a good running 455 for years in a heavy 75 lemans with no problems.


If the 350 has many miles, it should be gone-thru by and expert. With either trans, find some one who builds transmission for the drag race crowd.

400 has a beefier yoke as well.

Many of the big pontiac wagons came with a long tail shaft th400. The short shaft is what your looking for.
