We all know the pain it is to install on the drivers side. My Hedman 1 5/8 fit well but i am going to a 400 stroker and am thinking i might need more exhaust breathing with larger tubes. do you really think that Doug's 1 3/4 is going to be much better that i can notice. and i worried about going to 2" with hooker super comps . What pain would they be ?

Are you running D-ports or round ports (I.E. Edelbrock Performer RPMs)

I have installed both Dougs and Hookers on round and d-port heads in my 69 GTO.

I don't think you need 2" primaries unless you are making over 600 hp.

1.75 or 1.875" will be enough for sure.

Dougs for great. Hookers may make a couple more ponies.

I went with Dougs. No hammering or denting pipes to fit.

I have run automatics and 4 speeds in this car as well.

I hope this gives you some insite. I would make the same choice to go with Dougs if I was to do it over again.

With Dports for ease of install look at the headman 2in adapter plates. The plate bolts to the heads with recessed bolts and the header has a flange that bolts up to the plate with bolts positioned where you can reach them without standing on your head.I believe Maddog has them also.I used them also with a set of 1 7/8 tubes.Tom

I'm using Hooker Super Comp in a 70. All stock linkages worked. Brake block is a little close. I made a heat shield with a piece of aluminum. Oil filter housing needs to be off to install. Two bolts are very difficult to tighten. Tranny oil cooler lines may need to be adjusted.
I tried using a set of Dougs headers first, and ran into many more problems. I have D port heads though. Get the coated headers. I can't believe how much cooler they are.
