I am running a 469, 71 455 HO engine. I can share the specs if needed. I use an Aluminum PRW pump. I have the as-cast version of this one:

http://www.amazon.com/PRW-1445510-Performance-Quotient-Polished/dp/B004L2OYG4

Pump has about 2k miles on it. No issues, quiet. I use a 2 core AL summit brand radiator and the car runs 175-180 even on hot days.

I am a single data point. Ask me after I have 50k miles on this (in about 30 years).

Good luck

-Dave

Be aware early 69 birds used a shorter water pump.If yours is such you might have to mess with pullys to keep everything lined up.Ask me how I know!Tom

-It should have a cast impeller, not stamped steal.
-The divider plate should be adjusted for proper clearance to the impeller of the water pump. I tweak the divider until it just touches the impeller, then assemble with gaskets for clearance.

Flowkooler, milodon and the like. The clearance really is the important part.

I've used the Milodon aluminum pump on two different engines. As mentioned, it has the quality impeller and worked perfectly with the tweaked divider plate. I've been using the CSR elec WP for about 6 years and it does the job and has yet to disappoint.

Im running the FlowKooler. It's and aluminum casting with a modified impeller. Dont know if the fancy impeller is needed if divider plate is clearanced properly.

But it does give you the warn and fuzzy's
