I am currently running Pontiac HEI with aftermarket module. I hVe seen in Summit racing they sell an MSD box for street. My question is is it worth the $149.00? Does smooth out the idle or is it a waste of money?

The multiple spark provides a quicker start and smoother idle. The multi spark falls off at 3000 rpm.

If you aren't racing and don't require a rev limiter, the 6A-2 will do.
