Hi guys, I'm new here. Background: my buddy has nice coated 4-tube headers from his 70 GTO, and I'd love to replace the 3-tube cheapies on my '67 Firebird. I have the stock 670 heads. Sick of doing header gaskets every 2 years, and I'd love a little more performance. Thanks for your help!

Your friend's headers--what make are they? The "cut" on them varies between manufacturers as they ordinarily do between car frames. It is possible they could fit a 1st Gen Firebird but the model # of his needs to be compared to those slated for a 67 Firebird.

This is along the same lines except backwards??...I ran into a set of ceramic coated Sanderson shorty headers off of a 69 Firebird for cheap???.has anyone ever successfully put a set of headers from a 69 or earlier Firebird onto a 68-72 GTO/Lemans? The catalog shows 70 and up Firebird and 68-72 GTO as the same part number, is the 69 and earlier that different?

For reference, many years ago a friend wrecked his gorgeous 69 GTO (flipped it into the Delaware River) and replaced it with a 69 TA clone which he built from the ground up. He reused many of the drivetrain and parts from the GTO including the headers. I remember him having to modify and weld one tube for clearance.

Bowties are for Pee-wee Herman. "Chevy": even the name sounds cheap, but not as cheap as your Pontiac will be with an LS transplant.

GTO and 2nd gen bird headers wont fit first gen birds without a LOT of work.I think the longbranch factory RamAir manifolds are way better than 3 tube headers and your exhaust leaks well be gone forever.Tom

I'm starting to think that modified logs would be the hot ticket when running LSA greater than 112 degrees.

For a street first gen it is hard to beat the factory RA exhaust manifolds.Ram Air Restorations makes them with larger outlets also.Tom

I was told the headers on my 67 bird were not easily matched to other vehicles because of the steering box. The ones on it now are Doug Thorley's. On there site they tell you which ones fit which models. I don't believe GTO headers will work on your 67.
