I'm wanting to buy and run my first set of drag radials this year. Think I want to shoot for a 12.5x time sheet at Norwalk.

Current best E.T. is 12.86 @ 104.
Last year at Norwalk my best run was 12.95 @ 107.
Best MPH was 108.
all these times were on regular ol street radials, 235's if i remember correct.

I've seen a couple of new options come to market, but think i'll stick to one of the more tested/trusted tires for now.

I have no brand loyalty with this.

I'm not sure if this is something I will drive on the street and strip, or just the strip and use a dedicated set of wheels for them.

Only thing i'm fairly sure of is, I'd like to run a 275-60-15. (will be on 8" wide wheel, unless I buy a new set for dedicated strip use - then may go to 9" or 10" wide wheel.)

so... shoot me some ideas! preferences, suggestions, whatever you would recomend!

Matt, are you running an auto or stick?

I ran a 255 60 15 MT ET Street Radial on my 4 speed GTO and could never get them to not spin. I was either bogging (launch at or below 3k rpm) or spinning (anything over 3k rpm). I did manage a best ~1.85 60 foot on the radials.

I bought a set of MT ET Streets 28-11.5-15s (bias ply) to see if I can get my 60 foot down a tenth or two. I don't have any race data yet, but I think they will help based on what I have read.

Both tires have/will been run on a 15x8 rim.

When I went from street radials (BFG RAD T/A) to a drag radial, I shaved over a half second off. I bet you can get 12.5 no sweat.

Id go with the MT ET Street Radial. Either a 255 60 15 or a 275 60 15.

2.52:1 first gear. 3.90 rear end using a 28" tall tire. It is prob too much gear for my new engine, but really helped my 400. Id prob go to a 3.55 if I did a gear swap again.

3.42 seems like not enough gear for me. If i had to guess, for mostly track work, the 3.73 would be the ticket.

TTT

Bowties are for Pee-wee Herman. "Chevy": even the name sounds cheap, but not as cheap as your Pontiac will be with an LS transplant.
