I was thinking about just using gray primer to paint my car for now. I know the rust will come back if not painted with some kind of top coat. Seems I read years ago that you can use a sealer to help seal the primer to keep it from rusting.

You can seal the primer. I spray a tinted sealer over primer before any color is applied. The sealer will fade as it is not a top coat and doesn't have any uv protection. I did some body work on the top of my 71 GP and primed it then sprayed black sealer on it. Even though the car spends 99% of the time inside the sealer is still fading to a lighter color.

Thanks Lucas.

I looked around. It looks like if you want a primer grey look but want it to last, you have to use grey paint with a flattening argent in it. If I'm going to go through that, might as well lay on some color.
