We finally were able to get my son's car going last week right before we left for the track on Thursday. 1981 Firebird. The new combination is a .030" over 1970 455 block with factory crank, H beams and KB pistons. Running the old 60213 Crower I ran in my 455 a few years back, with a set of #46 heads, NON ported, just gasket matched. Turbo 350 with a 4:11 gear out back. TCI 3500 convertor. Topped off with an Olds Q-Jet and Performer RPM intake. Last year with the 400 I pulled out from under the work bench where it had been sitting for 20 years, the car ran a 13.90 or so.
Right off the trailer on Friday, the car ran a 12.04 @ 110.6 MPH. His best run of the weekend was an 11.92 @ 112.7 MPH after a bit of tuning. We were VERY happy with the car's first outting with the new engine and he is talking now about entering the Halloween Classic at Norwalk in October.
My youngest son Brandon ran his 2000 Firebird as well, with a best run of 15.93 @ 85 MPH. Now he wants to sell his Bird and look for a V-8 Bird. I think he is hooked as well. LOL
My car ran about where it always does, except we hit a best ET of 11.66 @ 116.8 MPH.

1969 Firebird 461, #62 iron heads, Comp roller, Performer RPM, Q-Jet Turbo 400 w/ Continental converter. GM 8.5" 10 bolt with 3:73 gears.11.50's@ 119+ MPH
