my car was leaning 3/4" lower on the front drivers side.rear end is perfect so i had the front springs replaced for that and also because the previous owner had lowered it and i like the original ride height. anyways after the swap the car still leans to the one side.

so my question is what's left body mounts bushings?

it's just one of those little things that bug me,any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the leaners club. I could never figure out why firebirds commonly are higher on one side. My driver side rear is 1/2in. shorter and my passenger side front is 1/4in. taller than the driverside. I have done a couple of leaf spring and coil replacements and even flipped sides with no success. I am at the nearest to success now. I am going to have my rear driver leaf spring re arched for a 1/2in. raise. This lift may actually drop the front passenger side an 1/8th in. I learned that a change on one corner affects the opposite corner. Just push down on one corner and have someone measure the change on the opposite corner. I recall you having a 76 Bird. Aluminum bushing kits offer a 1/2in. drop kit. But I am not sure you want to do only one side. By adding and subtracting bushing thickness at the lower front bushings only, you could lift or drop a fender gap up to a 1/4in. But this also closes the upper gap between the fender and the upper door. I had some pros cut my front springs to match front height and used the bushing technique for the last adjustment. I hope some of this makes sense.

My '67 wagon sits level in the front but it's the right rear that squats a bit. I replaced the entire rear end, coil springs, upper and lower control arms, added a 1.50" sway bar, and added new KYB gas shocks, and guess what. It leaned to the right. Frustrated, I re-installed the old air shocks but this time with independant air lines. That fixes the leaning problem but now I have to pump up the airshocks about once a week as they tend to bleed down in that peroid of time. That reminds me I need to double check the seal on those air lines as it should hold air longer than a week.

Luis, I'll try that and remeasure.

Pitts64,i thought of that too there's more wight on that side.Did adding a spacer change the way your car Handled?

oh man...I can't belive changing the body bushings may not do anything.that's a big job and it's 50/50.

Vid,Ive got gas shocks too but the brand escapes me right now.a week seems a little short but i don't much about air shocks good luck.

My Lemans leans to the left as well... but it has lived it's life with all Chevrolet drivetrain. (starter and battery on Passenger side of car...) but driver's weight probably does take it' toll over time. ? I'm going to fix the drivetrain "issue" soon.

I replaced ALL suspension components and body bushings a year ago, yet still seems to have the same lean...

FWIW,
Matt

Alot of times the front coils are different heights or varying spring rates. Assuming the body bushings are up to snuff (check body and frame mount areas for rot and/or collision damage) you might try swapping sides on the front springs. Then, if no change try trimming a little bit off of the spring on the high side of the car. I have done this on quite a few of my Pontiacs as I am very particular about the cars stance.

Also check the frame for damage, bends etc. What's the situation with your upper A-arm shims?

Phil, there's no rot or collision damage,I checked and there's more shims on the driver's side.I gonna try swapping the springs and see if that helps.

Matt, cool hope it all works out.
