The plea for medical help from the Captain (O-6) of the Aircraft Carrier Theodore Roosevelt was apparently not made through appropriate chain of command channels. If he failed to follow this strict military requirement, I am not surprised that he was relieved of command. He will probably get a small desk job in the Pentagon and his chance for promotion to Rear Admiral (O-7)...is gone. Mistakes like this can be forgiven during battle, but will destroy a career any other time.
