My brothers 1976 Pontiac Trans Am goes 127 mph at Atlanta Street Car Takeover. This Trans Am is powered by a LS engine with a 76mm
turbo. 655 rwhp @ 18 lbs boost. He did all the work himself. We just got it running days before the event. Car has a lot more HP on tap. Will eventually run up tp 25 lbs boost which will be 1000 hp.

The used LS engine was purchased with 4L80 trans for 900 bucks. Only thing done to the engine was adding a turbo cam 228/228 dur. Trans was left alone. Gets 25 mpg. Enjoy the videos

Watch the TA clean up on the big end of the race.

That is moving for stock internals parts like the cast pistons, cast crank, and stock connecting rods. Boost is kind of addicting, fun ride for sure. Is it a lq 4 out of a 2wd truck?

Nice looking pair of T/As. Jay

Bill , No ET when roll racing just mph. He ran 128 mph @ 13.4 at a test in tune the night before. He babied it off the line
then got into it 300 ft rolling like he did the roll race. The stock 10 bolt is tired and making noise. Will say this he can roll at 50 mph and lay 200 ft black marks all day long. This is with 315 DRs. He has a ford 9 inch coming in 2 wks.
Go to my youtube channel if you want to see that. Car tracks straight with the RideTech 4 link that he put in. Not crazy all over the place that a leaf spring set up would give you. Car should run in the 10's once the new rear end is in. MPH is there. Hellcat territory and the TA is lighter
My brothers goal is to run in the nines.

Jay you are correct. LQ4 iron block 6 litre, with LS1 intake, F body oil pan. Thanks, we get alot of attention on the two birds where ever we go.

ET update: My brother ran a 12.54 @ 132.71 at test in tune Atlanta Dragway Friday night Oct 4th.
Eased off the line and then let her rip. Track is closed next week, so that will give us time to get
his new Ford 9 inch in. Plus I will be able to get my in tank electric fuel pump in my car. We both should be
at the track in a couple weeks. I am hoping to be in the high 12s with the fuel issue solved in my TA.

Here is the my brothers numbers from the track Friday night Oct 4th
1976 Pontiac Trans Am LS powered with 76mm turbo. Car will run 10.50s
with the new Ford 9 inch. He will be able to use his two step then.

60 ft - 2.8
330 ft- 6.3
1/8 - 8.80
mph 102.72
1000 ft - 10.84
ET 12.54
mph - 132.71

Thanks Rich. They are fun. We get a lot of attention when we take both cars out together.
We are talking about running his car in the 1/2 mile run event. Its actually takes place at
a small private airport. Its called " Wanna Go Fast ". Really cool event mostly exotics and big
hp new muscle cars. We have been to several and always thought how cool would it to run a 2nd gen
Pontiac Trans Am. Looks like its going to happen. When it does I will post the videos.

Looking forward to the video. I should have mine back with 200r4 overdrive and I'll finally have some top end to the car so a half mile event would be fun. Where are you located?

located in Ga. 200r4 in your car will be nice. My brother has the 4L80 in his and loves it.
He can cruise with traffic no problem. I thought about a 200r4 for mine but not sure if it would live
behind the pontiac torque of the 461. I will probably go the same route my brother did and LS it with a
turbo. Then go with a 4L80 trans. We know how to do the conversion now. I dont want the power he has. I just
want a reliable crusier with 550 -600 at the rear wheels. That is easy to do with a LS Turbo. Plus it would
actually match the Turbo Trans Am decal on the rear spoiler :) Best part about his car besides the power is how quiet
the turbo makes the car. I like quiet powerful cars. There is nothing worse at the drag strip than lining up
with some loud obnoxious gasser and you cant even hear your car.

I agree on the loudness. I've had the 200r4 built to handle the horses and torque under the hood. From everything I've read, the 200r4 should work fine but, would definitely need to be built for your application. What I like about it is that is a straight bolt up to my 400, no drive shaft change, etc. Some minor things but mostly a bolt in swap.

I agree Rich the 200r4 is a pretty much a bolt in which makes that part of the install nice. With the 4L80 we
had to cut the driveshaft and then weld it up. My brother TIG welded it back together. So far it has held up fine. He checks it after each night at the track. Since he is going to a Ford 9 inch he is going to have one made.

I run the factory 3.08 gears in my 81. Its actually a pretty good cruiser with those gears. I remember when I put 3.73 gears in my 79 400 4spd. It was buzzing at 60 mph. I hated going anywhere in that car. I ended up putting the 3.23 gears back in it after a few yrs.
