What are some thoughts on building a Pontiac engine for a class that is limited to 375 CID to compete against the same cid GM, Fords and Mopars? How benifical would it be to destroked a 400 or 389 versus running a Pontiac 350. What would it take to make the 350 work? I would like to stay away from rare vintage stuff, but am interested to know what you know of that worked, vintage iron included.

Rules: No Hemis

Roller, solid, hyd cam ok. Roller!

Gasoline only. Race gas!

Single 4 bbl, aluminum intake ok. Top picks?

Headers

Aluminum heads are ok, but carry a weight penalty, as does displacement above 350. With theses penalties in mind, for a cid below 350, what cast iron head would you pick? And vice versa, 375 cid with aluminum heads

Thanks
Jay

JMO,our deck is too tall to be competitive with the SBC.The build would be what I did with a 301 turbo block which is a inch shorter.Mine was 383 but you could offset grind the crank stroke down a touch to get too the 375.If you have not seen the build let me know and can cut and paste it here.Tom
