Is there any diff internally between the long and the short shaft as far as one having more durable stronger parts over the other ? Basically is one built better than the other ? Thanks

I'm not sure, but i thought shorter was so that you could still get the proper pinion angle with a shorter driveshaft in shorter wheelbase cars, or vice versa.

I just wondered if the internals were the same ? It seems like I read that there is a diff in quality and strength.

They have the same strength. Many of the older big car long tails have aluminum apply pistons which are more desirable than steel in a high performance builds. About 10 years ago I was picking up long and short tail cores for 30-50 dollars each. I used the better parts out of several transmissions and built a good short tail that Im using today.
