Hi. I have been reading a post from way back about Remflex header gaskets. I went on there website thinking it was easy just to order a set but there are so many different ones for a pontiac that I lost my way. Which ones do I need for a 400 cu with number 13 heads? Thanks.

Happy New Year.

These header gaskets work for our Pontiac D port exhaust heads.

Remflex 12-001 Exhaust Gasket for Pontiac V8 Engine, (Set of 2)

Remflex gaskets require special care during installation. Once they're installed--they work magnificently.

If some of you remember--some years back I replaced my Hooker Super Comps with Heddman headers. The flange wasn't right on the passenger side and the damn things leaked. Brian Rasicot put me on to the Remflex gaskets and that purchase and installation corrected the faulty fit eliminating the leak. The material is soft and when the header is tightened with all bolts in play, the flange crushes the gasket material making a perfect seal. As to whether they can be reused like other gaskets is a good question. My guess is "no" because of the soft nature of the gasket material.

If for some reason a header would have to come off, unless recently installed, I'd replace the gasket, whatever make it was with a new one anyway. (But that's me ) The key is whether the used gasket will seal a second time. With Pontiac headers, they are a pain in the neck to remove and install, so any question of reuse should be part of the overall issue at hand. How many times do you want to do the job?

I dont think they are as for the reason bill said.A friend has a 69 T/a and had been having a issue with trying to seal a leak in his longbranch-48 heads. The issue was a combo of head and manifold not being flat. The Remflex cured the deal without haveing to have the stuff pulled and milled flat.Tom

That's crazy. I wonder if it would be cheaper for them to ship them to me in Florida and I ship them out to you Wake in GB. It can't be that much to send them to GB. They need to go in a long box so they aren't bent because they can snap. Other than that it shouldn't be too much $. What do you think?

How is shipping from other European countries? I notice a HUGE pontiac following in sweden, maybe there's a supplier up there you can gets parts from more reasonable? If that sounds right, i'll ask the sweden group where they get stuff?
