Hi all, just wrapped the car for the winter in alaska,63 GP fresh rebuild 455/462 10/40 conventional oil for break in,after 200 miles changed to semi synthetic 10/40 with a wicks filter. Next spring with over 1000 miles on engine ,I'm going to change to 10/30 full synthetic mobile1 and filter. Any thoughts or advice ? Old hot rodder, over 10 ponchos and probably my last...

I like a10w-30 when all internal clearances are good. Valvoline is always at or near the top rated oil. There are a few oil articles in light reading non fiction, in restoration section.

if stock build mobile 1 is great ! being mine is not stock i use Z-Rod 10W 30 ! even Amsoil OEM is far superior to most others for stock use, i get dealer/preferred customer discount.

I also wanted to say, since I found this site a few months ago and been reading on it every day. This place rocks, and very impressed with the knowledge on it. I bought my first Pontiac in 1971 (68 bird 400)then a 67 HO goat and just kept loving and buying them. My brother has 7 pontiacs. The new oils now days scare me, trying to keep up with the technology . I just bought my first smart phone a couple years ago lol
