So I'm working on a 77 T/A which will get a 461 stroker probably around 400-425 crank HP. 4spd Borg Warner. 3.08 rear. Looks like the original clutch was 10.4 inch as I have measured.

If I'm replacing the flywheel and ordering a new clutch kit can I order a 10.4 or 10.5 inch and have them fit the same? Could I even get an 11inch clutch?

Since I'm replacing everything it seems like I don't necessarily need the same size as long as it is 26 spline.

Also, with about 400hp do I need a "performance" clutch or just OEM rated? Car has stock tires so I see me laying rubber before the clutch slipping but then again I will have about double power of stock.

Any help is appreciated!

I ran a 430HP/500ft lbs 455 with a valeo 10.5" clutch, which is as OEM as you can get. Best out of all the other clutches i had swapped in or out. Keep in mind, if your bellhousing will clear an 11" AND your flywheel has holes for it, it will take slightly more pedal travel to disengage the clutch. I was running into a situation where all of the pedal travel BARELY released it as it was.

Okay I guess I'll just get an OEM type clutch then. I'm okay getting a 10.5 inch even though my original one is technically 10.4 inch? I wouldn't think that little difference would mean anything.
