I would like to move to Texas. I'm tired of the Midwest and tired of winter. My youngest son will be starting high school next year. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best places to live in Texas? Affordable homes, low crime rate, decent schools, job opportunities, etc. It would be nice to connect with someone who lives or has lived there.

to escape winter you would have to move to central/south Texas, the panhandle and DFW area get hit with winter storms on occasion. I live in the Austin/San Antonio area and I think I wore a jacket once so far this winter. we still haven't had our first official freeze yet.
